Our Expert Opinion
The Ninebot ES2 kick scooter is the second kick scooters from the famous maker of the Segway. The ES2 offers additional features to the ES1 including rear suspension, brake lights and customisable below deck lights using the Ninebot Segway ES2 smartphone app. With maintenance free solid wheels and a low deck platform the extra performance can be felt by the rider for a fun exhilarating ride.

Ninebot-Segway ES2 Facts
- Simple folding
- 300W Motor
- Batteries in the stem
It’s popular for a reason
With a top speed of 15mph, you'll cover 2 miles in just 8 minutes – 20 minutes faster than walking. Hard tyres mean the ES2 is puncture proof. One of the biggest perks of this scooter is the optional battery pack - not only does it increase the speed and range of the scooter, it also improves the characteristics of the motor performance, its quicker to respond and can run at peak power for longer.
The ES2 is a further upgrade to the ES1, with suspension on the front and rear not just the front. You will also see an increase in speed over the ES1 from 20-25Kph. This doesn’t sound like a huge amount but in scooter terms this is a significant increase. Coupled with the more powerful motor the Es2 finds climbing hills and transporting riders nearer to the 100kg weight limit much easier.
What the Warranty Covers, and for how long?
The full scooter is covered including the electronics and battery, for 2 years from purchase
Who Is the Warranty Provider?
The warranty is backed by the manufacturer, Segway, however the work is done by a partner based in the UK called Sertec.
How Can a Customer Claim on the Warranty?
Customer contacts Sertec by calling 0203 192 1421 or via Segway-UK@sertec360.com
The warranty is void If:
- The scooter has been ridden in the rain or has any water ingress
- The scooter has not been maintained such as unchanged punctures and missing parts
- The scooter has been missued for example has been ridden by a rider over the recommended weight
- The scooter was ridden anywhere other than private land
- The scooter has been serviced or modified by anyone other than an authorised partner

Buying risks to avoid
There are three risks to avoid when buying an electric scooter, fakes, stolen goods and illegal imports.
- Fakes can of course be very unsafe and unreliable.
- Stolen goods may be repossessed or intercepted, leaving you with nothing to show for your money.
- Illegal imports won’t carry a UK warranty and you may be liable for unexpected import duty costs.
There are four simple checks we recommend to avoid these risks:
- Is the retailer you’re buying from adding VAT to your purchase? If not, it’s likely they’re selling stock not approved for sale in the UK.
- Some websites state ‘UK stock’ even when they’re selling stock imported from elsewhere. Ask whether the retailer’s stock has been bought from an official UK importer of Electric Scooters.
- Does the scooter and its box carry a CE mark? This will be clearly displayed on a sticker on the outside of the box and on a sticker placed on the scooter itself. If the box and scooter don’t have a CE mark, it means the scooter hasn’t been checked to ensure it meets EU safety, health or environmental requirements.
- Does the retailer look credible? Simple checks we would recommend include:
-Check for a VAT number displayed on the bottom of every page of the retailer’s website
-Check whether they have a physical office or shop location
-Check their online presence, does their website look professional and do they have a professional looking social media presence
-Check third party reviews. A strong Trustpilot rating is a simple way to check other customers’ experience.
At Pure Scooters, we guarantee every product we sell is sourced direct from the manufacturer and is approved for sale in the UK. This also means every electric scooter we sell comes with a UK warranty.

Front and rear suspension helps to absorb a lot of the minor bumps and shocks that can occur when riding around on especially broken ground.
- 300W Motor
A 300W motor provides more power than most other scooters in the price bracket. This helps with climbing steeper inclines or pulling away from a standstill.
